Both the 12 Boys and 14 Girls were two standouts for the club taking out their respective Minor Premiers in their age groups.
Eight teams from the Phoenix Futsal Club will be represented at the up and coming NSW Futsal Super League Finals Series.
Phoenix Club President James Brown was delighted with the club’s achievements in their debut season and was delighted with the progress and steps the club has taken in being one of the new powerhouse sides involved with Football NSW Futsal.
“The Phoenix Futsal club was established in 2011 with the aim of creating an inclusive competitive club based sportsmanship. Despite a few early hiccups but with the support of Football NSW, the club was launched into the Futsal NSW Super League competition.
“Prior to commencing the Super League season, we held the Phoenix Cup which was a preseason round robin competition with Sutherland Futsal, Greater Western Vikings and the South Coast Taipans. This preseason Cup not only christened our new home the YMCA Ryde Community Sports Centre but also energized the club for the coming season.
“Throughout the year we were lucky not have too many injuries and have a consistent playing roster that was enthusiastic and motivated. This was probably best captured by our U12 Girls who despite their inexperience went onto the court each week with such determination to be competitive and to enjoy their Futsal. This set the standard for the older teams.
“The key to the Phoenix Futsal club’s success was not only through a consistent player’s roster, but also due to our coaching group who worked seamlessly together, and the managers and officials who supported the coaches and players and ensured that training and game days went off without a hitch.
“Whilst we had great success on the court, it was the way that the players enjoyed themselves and carried themselves that was our greatest success.”
