Open Womens Squad doing well so far in the NSW Super League Finals Series
Sydney Futsal Club’s women’s squad entered the final series as clear underdogs, not having beaten any of the top three teams comprising of Sutherland Shire Futsal, Phoenix Futsal Club and West City Crusaders.
On Saturday evening Sydney Futsal Club took on West City Crusaders who only last week delivered the Sydney side a loss heading into this game.
Sydney Futsal Club started strongly and Temika Wearing signalled their intent with a bomb from half way, crashing against the post. SFC kept up the pressure and before you knew it, the ever graceful Maniso Micheal fired Sydney to the lead. Sydney Futsal Club kept dominating and once again Maniso doubled Sydney’s lead. West City Crusaders began to fight back hard, but at half time Sydney Futsal Club were leading 2-0.
West City Crusaders began the 2nd half on fire and within 5 minutes after some sloppy defending by Sydney, the score was 2-1.
The game turned into a hard slog with both teams spurning chances. Sydney had the opportunity to put West City to the sword missing an open goal opportunity. West City kept trying, but Sydney stood firm and closed out the game winning 2-1.
Sydney Futsal Club will now play the highly fancied Minor Premiers, Sutherland Shire Futsal, with the winner to meet Phoenix Futsal Club in the grand final.
Mauro Tacca stated that the girls should be proud of what they achieved so far and have nothing to lose. Sydney Futsal Club, once again underdogs, will be looking to their supporters for inspiration.
