The Solomon Islands U16 futsal squad yesterday picked up their first two wins of the Australian Futsal Championship tournament with a 6-2 and 5-1win over Victoria and ACT Colts respectively.
In the match against Victoria the Solomon Islanders took charge from kick off dominating the first half with impressive performance scoring four unanswered goals.
Victoria however managed to pull back two goals in the second half with strong defensive play but could not stop the Solomon Islands from extending their lead by another two goals to make it 6-2 in final.
Likewise the Solomon Islands side once again displayed superb futsal performance against one of the host teams ACT Colts.
It was 2-0 in the first half in favour of the Solomon Islands side; the additional three goals came in the second half with their rival managing only one goal for the match.
The double win comes as a boost to their performance especially after feeling down for the opening match result which they narrowly lost 2-1 to the NSW Thunders on Monday.
The wins gave the Solomon Islands team six points on the table and a three spot shift upward to settle on fourth place.
If the Solomon Islands team maintains their winning for the remaining matches they have the chance to proceed on to the semi finals scheduled for Thursday.
Meanwhile after round two of matches, NSW Lightning currently sits on top with 9 points, followed by South Australia and NSW Thunder on third place.
Solomon Islands will be playing their fourth match of the tournament today against ACT Cobras.
Rounds five, six and seven will kick off today, rounds eight and nine will take place tomorrow ahead of the semi finals set to kick off on Thursday.
