The newley formed Fiji Times futsal soccer team yesterday received a big boost towards its preparation for the news season when they were presented their first ever jerseys by team manager Robert Khan.
Team captain Ropate Sigadua said the club was formed for fun and to promote bonding between the various departments within the Fiji Times.
“Our club was formed late last year and at first it was just to bond employees within the different departments of the company,” Sigadua said.
“And we also wanted to promote healthy living within our workplace so we decided to keep the club,” he said.
He said the 2012 futsal business house competition was about to start and his team would compete as underdogs.
“Before we used to play friendly games so jerseys didn’t matter but now that we are joining the actual competition, these jerseys are a big boost to the team.”
“We have been training since the beginning of the year but we will not carry any high hopes when we go into the competition.”
“We are going into the competition as underdogs but with the aim of improving employee bonding within our organisation,” Sigadua said.
He also asked other employees of Fiji’s leading newspaper company to come and support the team when the futsal business house competition begins.
