European Futsal Champions, Spain, is giving Solomon Islands a boost in its preparations for FIFA Futsal World Cup.

The Spain’s Head Coach, Venancio Lopez is this week coaching the World Cup Bound Solomon Islands National Futsal Team, known as the Solomon Kurukurus.

Despite qualifying for their second consecutive FIFA Futsal World Cup last year, the young Kurukurus have had little support from football authorities in terms of their preparations.

The visit by Venancio Lopez however, is a massive morale booster to the team whose fan base stretches far beyond Solomon Islands borders – thanks to YouTube and the internet.

Local journalist Koroi Hawkins paid a visit to the Kurukuru’s first training session with the Spanish Coach this morning and filed this report.
