The Gympie State High School under-15 futsal side has been in fine form this season and will head off to Brisbane today for the South East Queensland Futsal Tournament final.
The team has been matching their indoor soccer skills against the best teams from south-east Queensland for the last three weeks.
They have won all their games and will play off against Elanora State High School in final today.
Gympie State High School teacher Geoff Haig said the boys had a great chance of taking the final as long as they don’t expect to win.
The Gympie side beat Elanora last time they played and won a similar tournament at the end of last year’s season.
Haig said the under-16 Gympie State High School girl’s side also played well in the competition.
Haig said the girls lost their quarter final to eventual grand finalists 1-0.
“The girls did very well,” Haig said.
He also said the year eight side got into the last eight in the competition as well.
Keep a lookout for The Gympie Times next week when the paper will feature a follow up story on how the team performed in the final.
