Cairns United Futsal Club names the final squad! (QLD)
12 players named for the 2012 Kobe Futsal Festa Tournament in Japan
24 May, 2012
Cairns United FC, Head Coach Tony Cifuentes today named his 12-man squad for the 2012 Kobe Futsal Festa Tournament, to be played in Kobe, Japan from 31st of May – 3 June 2012.
“I am very excited about the final selection of players for the Tournament. All the players have worked hard in preparation for this event, and with players from all over Australia, some from different parts of Asia and even Colombia, this made things extremely hard, however I am feeling confident we will have a competitive side against some of Asia’s top Futsal Teams. In our first encounter we will come up against Deucao Kobe FC, and this will be a test for the boys, as Deucao came 3rd in the 2011 Japanese F League (National Japanese Futsal League), so this will certainly show were we are at, our second game will be against Chonburi FC from Thailand, and this should be a more evenly contested game, and from there it depends on how things go”.
We are an amateur team up against some Professional sides, and we have not had much time to train together, so although I am optimistic, I know it will be tough going for the boys, but I am also keen to see how the boys handle the situation, it will be a great experience for them and you never know, as the underdogs, we might just surprise some teams”
Antonio Cifuentes Marquez(Head Coach).

What is the point in naming a “Cairns United Futsal Club” futsal team that only has three local based players from Cairns?
I’m guessing that this team won’t get any training time together so wouldn’t you be better off picking local based players and putting the time in on the court prior to the competition?
Your local players must be fuming for not getting much of an opportunity. I understand you want to be competitive but seriously……
Ahhhhh Vikings at it again! At least you gave the team a decent name and not the same old North City South Metro Western Country Cairns Province like you call the club teams that attend Vikings Nationals!
