New faces, surprise omissions in Bonitos (Solomon Islands)
Futsal star Jack Wetney makes the Solomon Islands Football Squad
Nine new faces have been included in the final 23-men squad who will be representing the country in the upcoming Oceania Football Confederations (OFC) next month.
Among the nine new inclusions are seven players who will be making their debut in the national squad in representing the country in the biggest football tournament in Oceania.
To add on, experience hands Felix Ray has also recalled in the final squad having being left out for quite some time now.
Kakamora danger man Nicholas Muri has also received a call up to rejoin the squad.
Sneaky futsal sensation Jack Wetney has also been included into the club as he would be making his debut in the Bonito’s team.
The reserve list of six players showed four new inclusions to the national squad.
They are Leon Fox, Emmanuel Poila, Moffat Deramoa and Nathan Kera.
However, there were also some surprise omissions.
The man dubbed as “Mr Cool” Alick Mamae did not make it into the final list so as his Amicale team mate Joachim Waroi who are reported to have already left for Vanuatu.
Despite their absence coach, Jacob Moli with the support of the selection panel and assistant coach, Laurent Papillon are confident that the selected players are capable of making Solomon Islands proud in the Nations Cup.
The new inclusions to the final squad are as follows:

- Joshua Tuasulia – defender
- Jack Wetney – Midfielder
- Alec Wickham – defender
- Leslie Naste – midfielder
- Himson Teleda – midfielder
- Nicholas Muri – forward
