Melbourne Heart FC Futsal were up against Boomerangs FS of ACT, participants in last year’s edition. The game kicked off at 1:00PM and was set to be a thrilling one.
With an intense start, both teams locked horns and fought bravely to find a quick and decisive goal. Neither team proved successful, but Heart seemed to have the better chances. Heart showed Boomerangs FS that they were here to play, and win. They dominated the game, holding more possession and creating the more chances for goal. The only struggle was capitalizing on these opportunities, and this setback caused for the half to end at nil all.
The game had been played intensely, with a lot of the players’ confidence coming from the atmosphere of the game, predominantly created by the large amount of passionate Heart supporters. Heart did experience some minor injuries though but they were dealt with immediately. The second half was set to be a vital one.
The second half kicked off with Boomerangs coming out slightly stronger in the second half. Heart still held strong, creating various back post tap-in opportunities that were not completed. Then, Lewis controlled the ball, ran towards goal and with a deflection made it 1-0 to Heart. The game remained fairly even until some unfortunate defending errors caused for Boomerangs to go 2-1 up. Heart fought hard and strong and seemed to be able to equalise when Fruscalzo was taken down in the penalty area but, some very controversial referring saw Fruscalzo being yellow carded for supposed simulation. Heart continued to fight hard but experienced the game remained at 2-1.
This is Heart’s first game in Series One of the Hummel F-League and proved to be one of the most thrilling games. Heart take on Paramatta Blues at 10:00AM tomorrow and then Joma Jaguars at 6:00PM.
