The Northside edition of the Girls High School Futsal competition took place at the Lyneham Netball Centre yesterday, with 20 teams taking part in the two age divisions. In the year 7/8 girls competition, Campbell High School took on Daramalan in the final in what turned out to be an incredibly even match. With the scores locked at 1-1 at full time, extra time was need to separate the teams. Grace Maher turned out to be the hero for Campbell, scoring her second of the game to give Campbell High School the number one Northside ranking heading into the ACT finals in four weeks time.
In the year 9/10 competition, Daramalan faced off against Melba Copland for the title of number one ranked northside team. It turned out to be a fairly one sided game, as a busy schedule took its toll on the Melba Copland side, who were eventually overrun 7-0. Lizzie Deao was a standout for Daramalan with a hat-trick. This means that Daramalan will go into the ACT finals as the number one ranked northside team in the year 9/10 competition.
The ACT finals will take place on Tuesday 26th June at the Lyneham Netball Centre.
