The Boys edition of the Southside High School Futsal competition took place yesterday at the Mpowerdome, with 15 teams taking part across the two age groups. In the Year 7/8 competition, Alfred Deakin High School took on Telopea Park in the final. In an extremely close, see-sawing game, Deakin prevailed 6-5 in the end, thanks largely to the goal scoring efforts of Tristan Clark, who bagged an incredible 5 goals in the final. Both teams now progress to the ACT finals on the 26th June, but Deakin will take the number one ranking.
In the year 9/10 Competition, the final once again pitted Telopea Park against Alfred Deakin High School. This time around though, the outcome was reversed. Deakin, with only one substitute in the final, could not match the fresh legs of their opponents who had 6 substitutes. Telopea eventually ran out 8-4 winners, ensuring that they will take the number one ranking into the ACT finals later in June.
The Northside edition of the boys High School Futsal competition will take place on Thursday 7th June at the Lyneham Netball Centre.
