Brunswick upstage Ashburton, as Bullets crush Royals
Pascoe Vale FC 7-0 FC Collingwood
Round 9 kicked off with frontrunners Lions taking on the Woods. Pascoe Vale started the stronger of the two opening up a 3 goal lead at halftime. Although Collingwood had chances of their own Pascoe Vale were too strong in the end running out 7-0 winners and defending top spot after 9 rounds of the Premiership.

Metropolitan FC 7-4 FC Prahran
The second match of the round took place between the Sky Blues and the Warriors. Both teams vying for 3 points to break away from the bottom half of the table. An inconsistent Metropolitan side came out firing, putting 5 past Prahran up to half-time as opposed to the Warriors 1 goal. Metro 5-1 at half-time. Prahran fought hard in the second half but to no avail with Metropolitan holding on to a 7-4 win. The victory pushing the Sky Blues one point past the Warriors and in to 4th spot.

Ashburton FC 5-7 CF Brunswick
Game 3 and upset of the round came with the Green Machine facing the Bloods. An Ashburton side short of manager Maurice Cristiano were up against a depleted CF Brunswick side. The game was a cracker with Ashburton leading Brunswick 4-3 at the break. Both teams gave it everything but the Bloods were too good, finally running out 7-5 victors.

Albert Park FC 3-1 Hume FC
Next up saw two newly promoted sides in Albert Park and Hume playing for much needed points with both sides lingering dangerously in the bottom sector of the table. Albert Park went in to half-time 1-0 up. Hume couldn’t get back in to the game and Albert Park finished up 3-1 winners to lift them off the bottom.

Vic Vipers FC 8-1 FC Essendon
The next clash in involved a struggling Wanderers side against second placed Vipers. After Pascoe Vale claiming 3 points earlier in the night the Vipers knew they had to win in order to stay within a match of the first placed side. Essendon did well to stay within 1 goal and were down 2-1 at half-time. The Vipers blazed away after half-time, netting 6 goals and claiming the game 8-1.

Elsternwick FC 3-14 FC Balwyn
The last match-up of night involved the Royals facing off with the third placed Bullets. Balwyn piled on the pressure from the word go, yet led only 4-2 at the break. After half-time Elsternwick crumbled as Balwyn destroyed them, bagging 10 goals to the Royals 1. A 14-3 win to the Bullets saw Elsternwick drop to the bottom of the table on goal difference to Collingwood.
