Glenwood’s Nicholas Fitzgerald is proving to be an ace at indoor and outdoor soccer.
The 13-year-old captained NSW Metropolitan North during the National Futsal Championships in January.
“Being a captain is about leading the team and supporting them when they are losing.” he said.
“Soccer is just a fun sport, I’ve met a lot of new people.”
His outdoor soccer achievements included two man-of-the-match awards for the Metropolitan West team during July’s NSW Championships.
When asked which form of the game he enjoys the most, outdoor soccer always wins.
“I love outdoor soccer more, there is just so much more room.” Nicholas said.
“I want to play for the Socceroos and Arsenal.”
Nicholas’ week is split between training at Bossley Park High School and Blacktown City Soccer Club’s under-13 training squad.
“I train for one period and after school. I do that on Wednesday and Thursday.”
Nicholas is the week’s Blacktown Advocate Junior Sports Star Award nominee.
The awards are proudly sponsored by Rebel Sport and are open for athletes aged between 10 and 16.
