Record Numbers Turn Out For Season 2012/13 Trials (ACT)
150 players trials for just the youth teams alone
July is typically the run in to the Football 11′s final series across Australia. However for 150 young players across Canberra the Football season was put on the back burner as they descended on Mpowerdome to trial for the Boomerangs teams entering a second season in Australia’s Permier futsal Competition, the NSW Futsal Premier League.
150 participants for just the youth teams is a huge increase on the total of 130 players that participated in trials in 2011 and club president was adament there was enough on show to challenge the best in NSW this season.
“It was encouraging to see the participation numbers rise again and with it the amount of quality available has also increased” Collins said “we have been talking about development programs for 18 months or so and now we are in a raelly good position to put these in place not just for the young kids but for all age groups up to Youth. We are as much about development as we are about winning and keeping as many players as possible invovled in our weekly training can only benefit the club and ACT Futsal in general in the long run”
Teams and development squads are due to be named this week.
