A write-up on the junior teams 18 day european tour
Back in June 2012, the Boomerang Futsal team took a 3-legged 18 day European Tour.
With accommodation and matches starting with 5 days in London playing Enfield and West London Futsal team, they won and lost those games respectively. The team also got to check out the great sights of London.
Next stop was flying to the Spanish Canary Island of Lanzarote, playing their first match against Lanzarote top girl’s “hall of fame” La Tinosa team where they won 6-2.
More organised competitive matches followed, finishing with a Triangular Tournament in Tias Stadium against 2 top boys sides from the island, La Tinosa and Tinajo. The the Boomerangs won both their games and the trophy.
The team then flew on to Barcelona to play in the annual Tarragona European Futsal Tournament, and although the boys, aged 16-18 years old, didn’t progress as far as they wanted, it was a great effort and adventure.
The whole tour, organised by the guys at S.E.T.T.O. in Lanzarote (Mike and Jack) was superb in all aspects. Kristian Collins, head coach at Boomerang says, “we all had a great time, the coaches and players loved it, all the tour was brilliant, tailor-made for our requirements, and the futsal excursions and social programme organised by Mike and Jack in Lanzarote were all very special”.
Boomerang and the La Tinosa club in Lanzarote now want to further their relationship with players and coaches exchanges, as well as planning to send more Boomerang touring teams back over next year to enjoy the European sights, play quality futsal and experience the warm Spanish hospitality.
