Fiji Futsal ref Amitesh Behari is off to the World Cup
Local referee Amitesh Behari’s second opportunity to officiate at the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Thailand has impressed many.
Behari leaves on Friday and Fiji Referees Association president, Mahen Singh says it’s a proud moment for Fiji Football.
“It’s very pleasing and overwhelming for our referees. It gives them something to look forward to and aspire to. Although there are little rewards, when it comes to FIFA now there are a number of tournaments that we can go to and when our referees get selected it augurs well for our members here in Fiji.”
Behari regained his spot at the meet which is held every four years – and was last hosted in Brazil.
Only two referees from the Oceania region have been included in the panel.
Behari will be joined by Rex Kamusu of the Solomon Islands.
The Solomon Islands futsal side will represent the Oceania region at the event which will be held from November 1 -18.
