Under 12 Boys – GWS Vikings 0: Mountain Majik 12

Today was the first game of the 2012 season and the boys turned up not only eager to play, but excited to be kitted out in their flash uniforms. As game time got closer, nerves became apparent.

From the time the whistle blew, the team played good defensive football against a strong team who has played and trained together for many seasons. The boys never gave up and showed great potential, making breaks and creating chances even though they never got the ball into the back of the net.

The final score ended up being Mountain Majik 12 / GWS Vikings 0. As the season progresses, their confidence will increase and they will gel together as a team. Better results will follow. Onwards and upwards from here!

Under 12 Girls – GWS Vikings 0: Mountain Majik 18

It was a very tough first game against a full strength Majik team to start the season, especially as we were without Isabella and so had no players on the bench. The girls started strongly, making some good early attacking inroads and were unlucky to concede the first goal from a direct free kick.

Throughout the game we defended gallantly and all the girls gave their best effort. Neena and Miranda made some strong shots on goal and continued to create attacking opportunities throughout the game, while Sinead and Marhlei were tenacious in defence and never lost heart.

Tayla had a very busy day in goals and to her immense credit got stronger as the game went on and never gave up trying.

Under 14 Boys

With the Boys going so well in the trial Matches, We were all looking forward to the 1st Round of The Season.

The Boys started the game with strong defence leading to counter attack. Mountain Majik started with a strong possession game, but for the first Four and a half Minutes the game was evenly matched. Then a Long ball over the top from Mountain Majik was quickly converted into a good goal.

Jarrod Our keeper Made some great saves, keeping Mountain Majik getting any more goals for a while. The Boys played on strongly but a laps of concentration in defence on our part gave Mountain Majik a chance of another goal, Which they took, Suddenly we found ourselves 2 – 0 down.

The Boys reset themselves, but weather it was the International Size Court or the sometimes dubious calls from the Ref, our boys seemed to lose their Shape and Morale.

After the break and a talk from Coach :) The Boys seemed to have got back their energy. They started strongly and after 4 minutes in we had our best chance to Score our 1st goal of the 2012 Season, but the Majik Defence read the play and closed down our Attack. A few Minutes later Majik scored their 1st goal of the Second Half.

Our Boys picked up slightly in the remaining Minutes of the Second Half, but The Game was not to be ours that day.

Never Mind Boys, You all played your Hearts out and Majik are a tough team. You can All be very proud of yourselves For you Never Gave Up and The only way is Up For Our Awesome 14 Boys Team

:)

GOOOOO VIKINGS

Under 16 Girls – GWS Vikings 1 – Majik 1

The game started evenly with Dion having her first shot on goal inside the first two minutes. Our girls showing a very strong defensive pattern but conceding a corner at the 4 minute mark which was easily caught by Mannon. The game open up allowing us to have several shots on goal over a 2 minute period but then the teams seemed to be on a level playing field with both teams having a few more shots on goal but no real chances easily saved by both keeper. ½ time score 0-0.

Second half the game sped up a bit with few free kicks to Majik but they were easily saved by Mannon or strong defence did not allow a true shot on goal. 5 minutes in Majik seemed to have the run of play for a couple of minutes but to no avail.

It wasn’t until 12 minutes into the second half where Majik scored a lucky goal where a shot was deflected then saved by Mannon but fell to the feet of a Majik player.

Down 0-1 the girls showed immediate desire to get the goal back which we did two minutes later with a great team goal using two touch and short passes straight up the middle of the park finished by Beth easily beating the keeper with a one on one. Scores 1-1

In the final 5 minutes of the game both teams had chances to score but the robust defence by each team. All in all a very passionate game by two resilient teams who will surely be there in the final series.

Girls keep up the good work it was an enjoyable game to watch even though the score wasn’t what we wanted. Final Score 1-1
