Sydney City Eagles are honoured to have two players from our Men’s Premier League squad selected in the Australian Futsalroos squad competing in the 2012 Futsal World Cup.

Chris Zeballos has been a part of the Eagles family since he was 12 years old and he has represented Australia in numerous games here and abroad. We are delighted and proud that all his hard work over the years has paid off and he has now been given the opportunity to fulfill his dream of representing his country in the futsal world cup.

Peter Spathis has also joined the Eagles family for the 3rd year this season. Spathis has represented Australia and more importantly together with Zeballos was part of the team that qualified the Futsalroos for the World Cup in November.

Last Saturday the Eagles showed their support to the boys with a good luck and farewell cake.

Chris Zeballos along with his family came to watch little brother Jason play in the 16 boys. Zeballos appeared relaxed and excited about the upcoming world cup and couldn’t wait to join his team mates when he flies out on Thursday. He couldn’t fly out with the team due to work commitments.

Peter Spathis unfortunately could not join us on Saturday with work commitments he needed to tie up before departing Saturday night.

Chris Zeballos’ family and extended family and long time girlfriend will fly out the following week to join the boys and support the Futsalroos.

Congratulations Chris and Peter on selection and Good Luck!!… Eagles will be watching and supporting the Futsalroos!!!

What about Roger Cua?? Your mens coach is doing a shifty to get games postponed by signing him.
The least you couldve done was have a picture of him on the cake and added his name on the poster!!! Poor Rogerrrrrrrrrrr

The cake was for our futsalroos players… Roger our 2nd keeper is not a selected futsalroo.
If want to critisise, same could be said about inner west magic article about their futsalroos,I couldnt help noticing why no mention of their player Aaron Cimitile, he deserves more recognition as he was actually selected as a futsalroo in the world cup.., this should be a time when futsal community bond together to support the futsalroos, pity first post is negative.

How about we just get behind the Futsalroos and park the petty inter club BS for a week or two.

I agree with futsaldad stop the BS! Gavin Obrien may be the third keeper at the moment but he earned his place time and time again and one forgets that this is his 3rd world cup and he was No1 keeper for a long time and given half a chance would be again. GO THE FUTSALROOS!
