Indoor 5′s is seeking expressions of interest for teams wanting to play at Minto

Indoor 5s Futsal will be holding a registration day at the Minto Indoor Sports Centre on 15th December between 10am and 2pm.
Indoor 5s will be seeking expressions of interest to play:
- Juniors: Boys & Girls
- Seniors: Men & Women
- Mixed
Comps start from 14th January

The Sports Centre has announced that they themselves will run the futsal competitions from now on.

That is such a shame, firstly Quake move to Windsor becasue of the court size now another entity with no affiliation to FNSW will come in a run Futsal comps, it seems the beginning of the end……….I hope I am wrong.

You are not wrong Grevious! Unfortunately all the changes implemented by Football NSW will eventually kill off Futsal as we knew it. Soon there will not even be a National Futsal Championship! In Spain, Brazil and Italy not all clubs have full size International courts at their disposal. These clubs are still allowed to play in the Leagues! It is called home court advantage and does not detract in any way, shape or form from the attractive Futsal on display! Why the hell are we having to play Academy, 12′s and 14′s on full size courts??? The value of Futsal is allowing young players to develop quick feet, think faster, short passes, tight dribbing skills and movement to create space. The smaller the court for these age groups the better! But what do I know!

Just another reason Futsal should be run by Futsal people! While the sentiment of international size courts is admirable it is simply not practical and this criteria should be dropped immediately in order for clubs to survive. I cannot recall if there was a consultative process undertaken with the clubs and expert personnel such as Gilligan, Knighty, Kidson and Varela….maybe this should happen before we destroy our game.
