Football NSW reports on how all their age groups went on Day 2 of the nationals
It was another long, hot day at the Futsal National Championships. With matches being played out of three venues, the action was aplenty in the nation’s capital.
Open Women: Victoria 0-3 NSW Thunder
NSW Thunder were too classy for Victoria at the AIS on Tuesday afternoon, running out winners by three goals to nil.
Victoria were sluggish out of the blocks and went behind as early as the 7th minute, Zoeie Redman tucking away a neat finish to give her side the lead.
From there Victoria seemed to regain their composure, only to be undone by a fantastic second NSW goal in the 13th minute.
A piercing through ball sent Sarah Seamaan in on goal and she showed great cool in front of goal to double the NSW lead.
Renee Tomkins added the third just minutes before the break, a wonderful individual run ending with a left footed finish that took a slight but crucial deflection past the goalkeeper, before the ball nestled in the back of the net.
Victoria showed renewed ambition in the second half and forced the NSW replacement goalkeeper into a series of smart block saves, but the sheet was kept clean as NSW Thunder closed out a significant victory.
