Brayden and Rhyan Cook playing good futsal for Queensland
Futsal talent must run in the Cook family.
Gladstone brothers Brayden, 14, and Rhyan, 16, were both picked to play for Queensland Country at the National Futsal Championships 2013 after strong performances for Central Queensland.
Brayden, who captained the under-14s, was disappointed his team was not able to win any games at nationals.
His personal performance could not have been better, however, as he was selected as the Australian All Stars goalkeeper.
He said he was stoked with his selection in the team, since coaches vote for the best player from each game.
“It was pretty awesome,” Brayden said.
“I was one of only three players from Queensland to make it and the only one from Central Queensland.”
Rhyan, who played for the under-16s, said his team had a pretty good tournament, winning three of six games.
He said it was a great feeling to play for his state.
“It felt fantastic,” Rhyan said.
“I felt I played very well.”
Brayden’s All Star status saw him automatically selected in to the Australian futsal team which is to travel to Brazil in June.
Rhyan said he was hopeful that he would be selected in the under-16’s Australian team.
His focus now is to play for Football Federation Australia next year.
