Matthew Connellan reports on the Mens Division
24 January, 2013
The Futsal Premier League continued with the completion of Round 12 in what was an intense round of quality action.
Dural Warriors are atop the table and are three points clear, even with a game in hand.
Inner West annihilate Sydney City
Sydney City’s miserable season continued as they were beaten resoundingly by Inner West Magic.
The match finished 9-0 in favour of the away side and hat tricks from Ediz Alpkaya and Marino Musumeci showed the class of the visitors.
Aaron Cimitile, Daniel Fogarty and Anthony Poniris all scored once each, as Inner West remained second, whilst Sydney City are rooted to the foot of the table.
Enfield Rovers edge Boomerangs
Enfield Rovers held on to third place with a 2-0 win over Boomerangs.
Robert Foti and Tim Mascarello scored for the home side.
Boomerangs are in fifth place but have a game in hand against Dural to come, where victory would see them leapfrog the much improved Campbelltown Quake into fourth place.
Frontrunners Dural far too good for Vipers
Mascot Vipers’s disappointing season continued with a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Dural Warriors.
Rob Varela’s side have been the team to beat all season and it was no different over the weekend, where victory gave them a three point buffer at the top of the table, with their game in hand still to come.
For Mascot though, defeat leaves mark on a poor season that saw them accumulate only 13 points from the 12 rounds.
Quake move up the table with win over Phoenix
Campbelltown Quake have been on the up in recent rounds and that trend continued as they beat Phoenix 4-1.
The win sees Quake move up to fourth position, four points adrift of Enfield Rovers.
For Phoenix, they remain second from bottom, but well clear of struggling Sydney City Eagles. They are, however, within four points of fifth placed Boomerangs FS, emphasising the closeness of the mid-table.
