Boomerangs Men’s team captain, Daniel Fulton was last night awarded the MVP for the Open Men’s competition of the 2012/2013 Football NSW Premier League Competition. This award compliments the Golden Boot award he had already received for being the highest goal scorer in the Men’s division throughout the season.
At a grand night of celebration at the Mounties Club in Mt Pritchard, Football NSW delivered it’s season ending presentation night. With over 400 people present, the night was for celebrating the successful season, and providing recognition of the tremendous effort of all those involved in ensuring the season ran well.
Individual awards were also handed out to the MVP in each age group and the Club Championship trophies were presented to Mountain Majik (Super League), and Inner West Magic (Premier League).
The Mounties largest function room was choc-a-bloc full of futsal talent, both past and present (and no doubt future), with many of the Futsalroos team from this year’s World Cup in Thailand also in attendance – as was the coach, Steve Knight.
The event was MC’d by Simon Hill (formerly SBS – currently Fox commentator) and provided a great opportunity to celebrate the renaissance of Futsal in Australia. Amongst the senior players there was much anticipation about the 2013 F-League. Football NSW also outlined some of it’s plans for further developing the sport in 2013 and beyond.
All in all a successful night to celebrate the culmination of a successful season – and even though the Boomerangs could only walk away with one Grand Final win and one MVP (and one Golden Boot), the club has shown that it can be competitive in the strongest, most comprehensive Futsal League in Australia.
