Fremantle Muita Calma, WA’s only representative club Futsal side in the FAFL Cup, have been drawn in Group B for the Futsal Oz Australian Futsal League Cup in Melbourne. Set to kick off on the 6th of April.
This will be Muita Calma’s first tournament together since winning 3 major competitions in 2012. The Cairns International Club Futsal Tournament followed by the WA State Futsal League: Challenge Cup and the Inaugural Football West Futsal League in 2012.
The FAFL Cup is a true test for any Futsal Club and it’s players, as it is the most intense level of Futsal played in Australia. Only the best players in the country have been assembled to compete. The standard of competition is extremely high and is matched by the professional level in which it is run. A great tribute to all the hard work and dedication by Peter and the team at Futsal Oz in Melbourne. It is for this reason that Fremantle Muita Calma are honoured to be taking part.
The WA State Futsal League is also committed to supporting Futsal Oz with it’s initiatives in the development of Australian Futsal at the highest level by awarding the winners of the 2013 SFL Summer Season automatic qualification into the next FAFL Cup. The SFL will run as the Western Conference to the V-League, so that the best of the best will always have the chance to play against each other at every FAFL Cup.
Last year the SFL sent an all-star team to compete in the FAFL Cup, SFL 5. and only narrowly lost in the Grand Final to one of the most decorated Futsal Club sides in Australia, Pascoe Vale. This year things are expected to be even tougher and Muita Calma will be expecting some extremely tough competition from all the teams at the tournament.
Good Luck to all the teams competing.
Fremantle Muita Calma’s first game is 11am Saturday the 6th against Parramatta Blues
