Match Previews

12pm Pascoe Vale FC (1st Place) vs. CF Brunswick (8thPlace)

Champions Pascoe Vale FC will be looking to get off to a flying start in the FOz cup and coach Paul Vidic has an abundance of talent at his disposal. CF Brunswick is a team that is capable of matching any team on their day. Brunswick will need to be at their best and punish any Pascoe Vale mistake if they are to get through to the next round

Head to Head record

Round 7 – Pascoe Vale FC 7 def. CF Brunswick 6

Round 18 – CF Brunswick 2 lost to. Pascoe Vale FC 6

Players to Watch

Takuya Umeda (Pascoe Vale) the Japanese import has been Mr. reliable for Pascoe Vale since he has joined the Nike V-League, his quick feet and quality passing is a handful for opposition defences.

Josh Slovacek (CF Brunswick) – Slovacek is one of the up incoming stars of the Nike V-League and his pace and movement will cause Pascoe Vale some problems. Look for Slovacek to try and beat his opponent as he has a great change of pace.

1pm Vic Vipers FC (2nd Place) vs. Fitzroy FC (7th Place)

Vic Vipers have not been at full strength for much of the 2012/13 season and they still managed to keep in touching distance of Pascoe Vale in the race to the Championship. Fitzroy FC has had an up and down season that has seen the mid table all season. Vipers will be looking to their experience players Adam Cooper, Chirstos Apostolakis and Hiep Tran to guide them to Victory. They have meet twice this season and both matches each team had chances to win the game, so look for this to be a close match.

Head to Head record

Round 4 – Vic Vipers 6 def. Fitzroy FC 5

Round 15 – Fitzroy FC 1 lost to. Vic Vipers FC 3

Players to Watch

Adam Cooper (Vic Vipers) – Cooper is one of the best playing in Victoria and has been unlucky not to be part of the National team setup. Cooper is dangerous all round the court with his good vision and passing it is hard to defend against him. Copper also is capable of scoring a few goals in the FOz cup and he also has a decent shot.

Jimmy Brennan (Fitzroy FC) – The Fitzroy keeper has been playing well in recent weeks and has kept Fitzroy in a number of their matches with some fine saves. Look for Brennan to have a big match against the Vipers and he could well have an impact on who progresses in this match.

2pm Ashburton FC (4th Place) vs. Metropolitan FC (5th Place)

In arguably the best matchup of the first round of the FOz Cup Ashburton FC take on Metropolitan FC. Ashburton have had an interesting season and have dropped key points, which didn’t allow them to challenge for the title. Metropolitan on the other had were in the mix all season but ran out of stream at the business end of the season. This game should be one for the spectators and with a possible next round matchup with Nike V-League champions Pascoe Vale at stake there should be some great attacking Futsal.

Head to Head record

Round 9 – Metropolitan FC 7 def. Ashburton FC 4

Round 20 – Ashburton FC 6 def. Metropolitan FC 2

Players to Watch

Lucas Kruel (Ashburton FC) – The Brazilian set the Nike V-League on fire since he has joined Ashburton. He technically one of the best players playing in the V-League, his distribution and movement has seen him score and assist in a number of Ashburton’s goals late in the season and look for him to play a staring role if Ashburton are to go through to the next round.

Juso Julardzija (Metropolitan FC) – JJ as he is known in the Nike V-League has an eye for goal and his goals this season have gone along way in keeping the Metro side challenging for the title. JJ has formed a great partnership with Alija Rezepovic and both are lethal in the attacking third. JJ will need to find away past Ashburton keeper Lorenzo De Paris if his team is to progress.

3pm Hume FC (3rd Place) vs. Moreland FC (6th Place)

This is a big match up with two clubs that have surprised all this season. Hume FC were challenging Pascoe Vale and Vic Vipers for the title, while the promoted Moreland FC set the league on fire early only dropping points to Pascoe Vale, Vic Viper and Hume in the first 9 rounds of the competition. They have meet twice this season and both occasions the club have been well supported by their fans and this clash should be no different.

Head to Head record

Round 9 – Hume FC 7 def. Moreland FC 2

Round 20 – Moreland FC 2 lost to. Hume FC 14

Players to Watch

Vadim Mazurskiy (Hume FC) – Vadim was the 2012/13 Nike V-League golden boot and will be looking to score more goals and get Hume through to the final. Vadim not only has an ability to find the back of the net he also has a large number of assists this season which has seen him a vital player in the Hume line up each week.

Burakhan Koca (Moreland FC) – Koca like Vadim has been in fine scoring form this season and it could be a shoot out between both players to see who goes through. Koca has been very dangerous on the counter attack with his quality finishing often punishing teams and he will need to find the back of the net if Moreland are to go through.

The second round kicks off at 4:30pm and 5:30pm with the Cup Final kicking off at 7:30pm
