A 17-YEAR-OLD girl has died from injuries sustained during an indoor soccer game at a school in Adelaide’s east.
An Education Department spokesman said the girl tripped and fell, making heavy contact with a wall at Kensington Centre, a special-needs school, last Thursday.
“She was transported to hospital following prompt first aid by school staff and attention by SA Ambulance Service officers,” he said.
“Tragically, the injuries sustained from the impact were fatal.
“The family does wish to say that their daughter loved her school, her teachers and friends and thoroughly enjoyed being part of the wonderful school community at Kensington.”
The spokesman said parents of other students at have been provided with information on support available to assist their children, and counsellors and support services are in place for the school community.
“The department will investigate the incident internally and has informed SAPOL and SafeWork SA,” he said.
