Held in Ballarat over 2 Sundays (2oth & 27th).
Under 8?s, under 10?s, under 12?s, under 14?s, under 16?s & Youth
INNER City FC has entered 9 teams all up, 2 in each age group for the 1st Sunday & 3 more teams the following Sunday.
We have this tournament with an emphasis on exposing the youngest and the advanced with an opportunity of a knockout competition.
These competitions are a great opportunity for our Junior development department to see what our strengths and weaknesses are whilst giving much needed ‘Cup’ knock out match exposure to the newest of our players.
The opportunity to see players in a pressure team environment is crucial for the future development of our programs, it allows us to evaluate our planning process whilst preparing for future events, notwithstanding the experience our coaching staff and team managers gain as a whole.
We have walked away with many positives and a list of areas we need to work and improve on. Overall it was a good day of FUTSAL!
A fantastic effort overall with the U8?s ICFC Tigers receiving a runners up medal after going undefeated all tournament and clearly the strongest team throughout the day. They defeated their opponents, 8 to 10 goals but froze in the Grand Final. Well done and good effort, we will work on that.
Another great effort was from the U8?s ICFC Lions, finishing 3rd overall with 2 wins and 2 losses. After a shaky start they finished strong with some positive signs coming out of this young group. Well done you made us all very proud. We can see we have a good group emerging.
The ICFC Tigers playing group, which was made up of the U10?s 2013 AFA Champions, added another title to their 2013 AFA national title. With a win in the Grand Final, clearly they were the stand out team in the competition, defeating all before them in style. Brilliant effort, an emphasis on keeping this group motivated, hungry & eager is a priority. An obvious challenge to our Junior development department.
The ICFC Lions made up of potential up and coming stars showed some signs of class and in patches looked like they could do some damage. With several individuals showing promise, it wasn’t enough to finish off the games, getting overrun when often in a leading position on the scoreboard. There were some good signs of positive play, leaving the Junior development department with some food for thought and a definite plan for the future. No doubt we need to develop this group, they need structure and guidance. Well done overall and a good 1st up tournament.
The ICFC Tigers did us proud with some great signs and well contested classes, although the feeling was ‘we under achieved’ in this tournament it is something we will not rest with. The Junior development department will go back and work on this. However reaching the quarters for a young group was great and we are proud of the lads. Good effort and we look forward from here on.
ICFC Lions also made up of under 11?s were the surprise package going toe toe with all before them. With some mixed results the Lions found themselves in the semi final going down in a classic match of the day. Performance however goes to the eventual winners from Sunbury the “Springers”. This game was fit to be the final!
A massive effort from the youngsters and a lot to work with going forward. Well done – it was a stella effort.
Overall a fantastic day of Futsal for ICFC and a massive thank you to all the parents, players and our staff on making this happen.
We would like to add that from this tournament we will be selecting players to represent Metro ‘Victoria’ for the 2014 AFA Nationals held in Sydney NSW on the 12th to 16th of January, 2014.
Squads selected will be Under 10?s, 11?s, 12?s, 13?s, 14?s, 15?s, 16?s, we are planning to fill these age groups.
Players from all our programs are eligible and may be selected. More details to follow.
Good luck to the INNER City Under 14?s Tiger/Girls and the Lions and to the Under 16 Tigers competing in the (2nd Sunday), the 27th of October at the 2013 AFA Victorian State Futsal Titles – Go get them Big Cats :)
