Fast and furious sport has the blood pumping (NSW)

STAMINA: Arlo Hook, seen here in action during
winter competition, is one of the region’s talented
young futsal players.

It is fast, it is furious – and Tal Galper loves it.

The 14-year-old has been among scores of players enjoying weekly training sessions as part of the FNC Futsal NSW program.

Players are testing their skills in the high-octane events, which are helping prepare players for forthcoming competitions featuring both regional and international talents.

Mullumbimby High School student Tal said he was enjoying the adrenalin rush provided by the sport.

“When I’m out there, I feel excited,” he said. “My blood is pumping.

“You need speed, stamina, agility and to be quick on your feet.

“It is really intense and fun. I really enjoy it.”

The weekly sessions at the Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre (GSAC) see the children enjoy short matches and hone their skills.

Meanwhile, players are reminded that entry deadline is closing for the forthcoming FNC Futsal NSW scheme.

Tournaments will be held at Goonellabah, Lennox Head, Byron Bay and Alstonville.

Men’s, women’s mixed and junior tournaments will be contested.
