Australia’s best male futsal players have been assembled to represent our country at the 2013 ASEAN Football Federation Miracle of Life Futsal Championships which will double as the 2014 AFC Futsal Championship Qualifiers.
A top 3 finish is the required result for the boys in green & gold to book tickets to Vietnam next year.
Shervin (top left) – plays for Enfield Rovers and has represented the Futsalroos on previous occasions.
Angelo (top right) – plays for Boomerangs FS and has been a regular custodian for the Australian national team. He recently was awarded the Golden Glove in the 2013 OFC Futsal Championships in New Zealand.
Fernando (bottom left) – plays for Vic Vipers and has been a Futsalroo for numerous years. He may have Brazilian blood but he has the Australian heart. Fernando is one of three Futsalroos to have professional futsal experience having played in Brazil for AD Alcan and SS Corinthians Paulista.
Wade (bottom right) – plays for Dural Warriors and this will be his second tour after his debut earlier this year at the OFC Championships. He is the youngest in the team at the age of 18.
Adam Cooper (top left) – plays for Vic Vipers FC, he is one of the youngest in the squad but proving to be beyond his years.
Jarrod Basger (top right) – plays for Dural Warriors and has World Cup experience. He also played professionally in Thailand at the start of the year for Bangkok FC.
Dean Lockhart (bottom left) – plays for Sydney Scorpions and has been in and out of the Futsalroos since the age of 21 having debuted against New Zealand on his actual birthday.
Raymond Miller (bottom right) – plays for Mountain Majik Futsal Club and has been absent from international duties due to injury and a National Youth League stint with Sydney FC. In his last Futsalroos appearance he played along side Socceroos star Tom Rogic.
Marino Musumeci (top left) – plays for Inner West Magic and Sydney Scorpions, he debuted earlier this year in NZ and gets a worthy call up into the squad to replace injured team mate Mark Symington.
Peter Spathis (top right) – plays for East Coast Heat and has been in the National team since 2004 when he debuted against Brazil in Brazil.
Roberto Maiorana (bottom left) – plays for Inner West Magic and Sydney Scorpions. He has been a train on squad member for some time now keeping the senior keepers on their toes as he goes from strength to strength. He toured in 2012 to NZ for the Trans Tasman Cup yet was not able to attend the OFC champs in 2013. This will be his first major international tournament.
Greg Giovenali (bottom right) – plays for Dural Warriors. At a ripe age of 26 he has captained the Futsalroos in the 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup, has played professionally in Italy for S.S Lazio Colleferro and also represented the U21 Italian National Futsal team.
Daniel Fogarty (top left) – plays for Inner West Magic and Sydney Scorpions. He has been a mainstay and integral part of the Futsalroos growing success. Lightning quick and as tough as nails with a deadly shot
Tobias Seeto (top right) – plays for Dural Warriors and at only 25 he has etched his name into the Futsalroos books as being one of the best the country has to offer. He has the experience of playing professionally in the Spanish First Division and earlier this year was awarded the 2013 OFC Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Rob Varela (bottom left) – is the Australian National team Assistant Coach. When not attending to national team duties he shares his knowledge with the players of Dural Warriors at club level and has been involved in the sport for decades.
Steven Knight (bottom right) – is the Australian National team Coach. When not attending to national team duties he is sharing his knowledge with players from Sydney Futsal Club. Knight has been around the game for decades as well having represented Australia himself in the 1988 FIFUSA World Cup hosted by Australia.
