Logo - ACT Capital Football Futsal (PNG)It’s been a bumper couple of rounds for Women’s Futsal Premier League tournament favourites the Boomerangs FS as they racked up another twenty-two goals whilst conceding only one as their lead at the top of the ladder increased to an almost unassailable eleven points with four rounds of regular season action to play.

The league leaders romped to a 9-1 win over Tuggeranong United in Round 10 with Sarah Crittenden leading the way with four goals whilst perennial goal-scorer Ashleigh Palombi netted twice, as did Becky Watts, with Brittany Palombi rounding out a comprehensive win. Sonya Sheedy found a consolation for Tuggeranong who were game throughout. The Boomerangs even better in Round 11 as they swamped Monaro Panthers 13-0. Three players scored hat-tricks, Michelle Aurousseau, Becky Roche and Ashleigh Palombi with Brittany Palombi (2) and Crittenden (2) also scoring in a one-sided match.

Belconnen United has moved into second place after recording a brace of wins themselves. The more important of the two successes was, arguably, the 5-2 win over Weston-Molonglo El Diva which allowed the Blue Devils to jump over El Diva on the table. Erica Weatherly took her season goals total to eleven with Nicole Jalocha, Jessica McEwan and Brittany Smale also finding a way past the El Diva defence. El Diva responded with goals from Aniko Berguno and Alison Lound but was soundly beaten. The Blue Devils followed up that win with a routine 4-0 success over Tuggeranong United with Maja Blasch, Sam Price, Jalocha and Samle doing the damage, the result putting Belconnen four points clear in second.

That’s because Weston-Molonglo El Diva continued to go into free-fall losing again when they were surprised by ANU Vogue 2-0 in Round 11. Erika Pennyfield has had a sensational season and her goal, the fifteenth of a productive year, added to by a strike from Freyja Jacobsen secured an excellent win for Vogue. They had earlier drawn 3-3 with Woden Valley in Round 10 with Pennyfield on the mark twice and Kylie Green netting the other goal. For Woden, Hayley Armstrong, Jamie Berkeley, with her 12th of the season and Georgia Fogarty earned them a point.

Canberra FC has enjoyed a recent upturn in fortunes and they racked up a pair of wins in their latest two matches starting with a 4-1 success over Monaro Panthers for whom Kelly Stirton scored her second of the season. A hat-trick from Amanda Dries was the highlight for Canberra FC with Natalie De Marco also finding the net. And De Marco proved the match-winner in Round 11 as she netted the only goal of a tight match with Kids FC. De Marco’s strike making the difference in a 1-0 win for Canberra FC.
