A fundraising market day to support two boys travelling overseas to represent Australia at futsal competitions will be held in Cleveland this Saturday.
Cameron Sinnett and Harley Brown will travel overseas next year after becoming national champions at the Australian futsal finals in Sydney last month.
Cameron will join the Australian under-11 team on a tour of the United States in July, while Harley will journey to Barcelona on the under-13 side in May.
Both boys will receive training from top international coaches and will learn new rotations in the game.
Cameron’s mother, Cassie said the experience would be the trip of a lifetime. “They’re absolutely thrilled about going,” she said.
“We’re hoping they’ll learn new skills, which they can apply both during the tournaments and when they get back to Australia.”
The fundraiser at the Cleveland State School hall and will feature more than 20 stalls selling Tupperware, clothing, shoes, cleaning products and other items.
Food and drink will be available, while childrens’ activities, including face painting, lego and a life-size Goal Shootout will keep the kids occupied.
Mrs Sinnett said the event was the perfect opportunity to do Christmas shopping.
“There’s going to be a huge selection here and we’re hoping to raise as much as we possibly can,” she said.
“People might even want to buy some Christmas presents while they’re there.”
The market day will run from midday to 4pm on Saturday at Cleveland State School on Queen Street and the entry fee will be a gold coin donation.
