Ballarat young guns rose to the challenge in day two of the state championships at Ballarat Futsal Centre.
The second stage of the championships last Sunday provided another overwhelming involvement from 26 teams from across the state.
Teams from Geelong, Castlemaine, Bendigo, metropolitan areas and Ballarat battled it out in over-age groups 16 boys, 14 boys and 14 girls.
Ballarat Futsal Club area manager Corey Smith said teams were passionate and competed at a high standard.
“It was a great event and a great platform to build on for future years,” Smith said.
Ballarat Futsal Club 14 girls team took out their title, defeating Kardinia International College from Geelong.
The 14 boys and 16 boys couldn’t quite snatch victory, finishing runners-up against the Caroline Springs team Madrid Springers in each age group.
“It was fantastic to see Ballarat teams do so well over the two weekends against the state’s best and it is certainly showing that our teams are developing quickly,” Smith said.
“The success of the titles were a credit to all of our staff, referees and volunteers who worked tirelessly over two big weeks and I also want to thank the Ballarat community for supporting the event.”
