AFA Elite Competitions Manager, Damian Briggs has announced that in 2014 a much anticipated National Champion of Champions tournament will be held for State and Premier League winners.
The tournament will be held in Brisbane during June next year.
Briggs said that the tournament will be an “exciting opportunity for premier teams and all-star players to employ their Futsal abilities at a new level of competition”.
Briggs who is also the coordinator of the new and thriving Brisbane Futsal League (BFL) said that “there are some stand out teams competing in the BFL that deserve the opportunity to contend against the countries best. The competition is tight but regions like West Moreton and North Brisbane are bringing their A-Game every week in the hopes of competing at the June tournament and being crowned the National Champion of Champions”.
Whilst Brigg’s is confident in Queensland’s talent, Corey Smith, who is the fiercely competitive director of coaching and co-ordinator of Ballarat’s Futsal League says that “QLD teams are going to have to fight extremely hard to beat his experienced Victorian national squads and Ballarat Futsal League Premiers.”
With a state of origin feud brewing the tournament is set to be unmissable. AFA will host men’s and women’s competitions during the tournament. Stay tuned for more information.
