More than 50 men and women from 14 to 50 turned out to try their hand – or, more accurately, feet – at the first game of Futsal to be played in West Gippsland last Sunday week.
For those who don’t know what futsal is, it’s a version of soccer played on a smaller pitch, usually indoors, with five team members on the court at any one time and unlimited subs on the bench.
Bunyip and District Soccer Club is hosting the competition, which drew players from a wide area.
Many are using it to maintain their fitness in their chosen sports during the off-season.
The competition will continue for a 10-week season, breaking for Christmas and resuming in mid-January.
More teams are welcome. For details, contact Tonny Arrigo on 0407 563 441 or Martin Jeric on 0418 104 242.
