Fielding ineligible players marred some senior football this season, but the indoor game has also suffered.
This year’s Summer Cup Final saw the two winning semi-finalists disqualified from the final, while at last night’s Australian Futsal Association semi-finals played at Moonah, Mr Jin Soccer Academy side was disqualified from the final after fielding an ineligible player despite them beating Hobart Knights 9-3.
In the other semi-final, FC Blaireaux downed X-Men 9-3. FC Blaireaux were formerly known as CSE.
Australian Futsal Associations Tasmanian head, Romeo Frediani, said: “With the top four teams being very competitive through-out the roster, it was no surprise the top two teams, Mr Jin Soccer Academy and FC Blaireax were only separated by a goal-difference.
“The evening’s games showed how tightly the competition was fought this year.
“Unfortunately, due to Jin’s Academy playing an ineligible player in the semi, Hobart Knights will take their spot in the final next week.
“The final, between FC Blaireaux and Hobart Knights, will be played on Thursday, 12 December 2013, at Moonah Sports Centre at 6.15pm.
“It will be great to see as many people as possible to support both teams and watch a quality final.
“We also have our 9th annual Tasmanian State Titles this Saturday at Moonah Sports Centre, with teams from Burnie, Devonport, Launceston and Hobart competing to determine Tasmania’s top teams ranging from Under-10s through to men’s.
“It’s been a great year of futsal for the AFA and we are looking forward to next year introducing new and exciting futsal programs for kids of all ages throughout the State”.
