U14 Boys Exhibition Match (VIC)

Logo - Bayside Pirates (Large)The Joma All Stars U14 Boys had their first hit out against the Victoria U14 boys on Saturday in what was a hard fought competitive match.

The Victorian side are preparing for the FFA Nationals in Canberra and this game was part of their preparation. The All Stars were selected from the U14 Joma Sala League and it is envisaged that the squad will compete in future Tournaments.

The Vics got off to a slow start with All Stars Captain, Joseph Onika, quick to pounce opening the scoring early on. He quickly followed that up with another goal after one of his dazzling runs to score the second goal. 2-0 in quick time.

The Vics started to find their rhythm mid way through the first half and were by no means out of it, although they realised they had a tough game on their hands. Through some fine decisive runs and good passing, the Vics opened up the Stars’ defence for Jackson Shaw to get his team off the mark for a fine goal. However, the momentum was still with the Stars’ and Flanker Dimitri Alisandratos slotted home for the Stars’ third.

3-1 to the All Stars at the break.

The second half was a different story. The Vics were getting stronger and the presence of big Adem Or was beginning to take effect. The Vics were more fluid with their inter play, while the Stars’ were disjointed and starting to tire after their high intensity first half effort. It was also some of the Star player’s second game that afternoon and it began to show.

The first goal in the second half came from the Vics, as did the second to make it 3-3. Game on! The pendulum had definitely swung the other way and when the Vics scored their forth, it seemed out of reach for the All Stars who were looking jaded. There was a glimmer of hope when Onika scored his third for his hatrick, but it was soon snuffed out by the Vics who scored the last goal, to make it 5-4 at the final whistle.

It was a game of determination with no quarter given and some quality futsal on display for the crowd, who thoroughly enjoyed the game. Chris Muelu, coach of the Vics said it was a great game and they are looking forward to the second match of the series on December 14.

Coach of the All Stars, Mark Georgeson, agreed with Muelu about the game and added that the All Stars did very well considering they only had one training session together and this was their first game; not a bad effort at all!

All the boys are looking forward to the next game in two weeks time.
