FCR – T.Vrettakos, MJ,Rajcic, A.Erenli

MU –

Kicking off Round 9 was a real blockbuster with a resurgent Richmond took on an undefeated Melbourne Uni we were in for a cracker. It got off to a slow start to be fair with Richmond playing a very disciplined game and negating Melbourne going forward in a dull and goalless first half.

The second quickly gained momentum as Richmond piles plenty of pressure on Melbourne’s defence and Francis Land. Eventually returning Tina Vrettakos broke the deadlock turning the ball in and sending Richmond on their way. Shortly after it became 2 when Azize Erenli finished from close range to all but kill off Melbourne’s chances. A fiery half which saw both sides reach 5 fouls ending with Richmond being awarded a spot kick and MJ Rajcic finishing past Land to finish off what looked a comprehensive 3-0 win and hand Melbourne their first loss of the season and close the gap at the top.

Player Of The Game – MJ Rajcic (FC Richmond)

Rajcic has been supurb since coming into the Richmond side and tonight was no exception helping her side immensely in defence and in negating dangerous duo Marcela Marques and Letizia Sammut as well as converting a penalty in Richmond’s biggest win of the season.
