The first game back from the Christmas break and Melbourne Uni would be looking to consolidate their place at the top of the league, While Ashburton would look to continue their slow run of good form by causing an upset against the would be champs. It got off to a slow start for both sides, struggling in the tough conditions with Melbourne holding a slender lead with goals from Cook and Tran cancelling out Kat Dixon’s opener.

The second half was a much different story with Melbourne breaking the game open a second half hat trick from the league’s top scorer Marcela Marques bagging a hat trick and 2 for Cook rounding out the victory, Dixon and Gross grabbed the goals for Ashburton but it proved a convincing win in the end for the league leaders.

Marques quite clearly the league’s stand out performer this season she was at her brilliant best in the second half this week bagging a hat trick as well as creating countless chances for her side.

The final game of the night saw 2 understrength sides take to the court in what was a must win for both. The humid conditions definitely played a part in the first half with both sides looking sluggish at times before Padiki Dade opened the scoring for Fitzroy to break the deadlock. With the half winding down the Vipers found an equaliser through Bianca Lavorgna and the Vipers went into the break full of confidence.

A tightly contested second half saw both sides play a defensive game style and not let silly goals in eventually the Vipers defence was broken when Zoe Stamatopoulos finished from close range to give Fitzroy the lead. Try as they might the Vipers pushed and pushed for an equaliser in the dieing stages and came closest through Candice Sallama twice late in the half but it would not be enough as Fitzroy hung on for a big 3 points.

Player Of The Game – Padiki Dade (Fitzroy FC)

Since joining the Fitzroy side for this season Dade has fitted in brilliantly with tonight being her best performance in the yellow and blue as she opened the scoring and helped her side immensely in defence to only conceding one goal.
