The Football NSW Futsal Premier League preliminary finals will be held at Ryde Sports & Community Centre this weekend.
Campbelltown Quake booked four grand final berths (Open Women, Youth Men, 16 Boys and 12 Boys) in last week’s major semi-finals while Mascot Vipers (16 Girls and 14 Boys) claimed two spots, and one each went to Dural Warriors (Open Men’s), Mountain Majik (14 Girls) and Inner West Magic (12 Girls).
This week’s finals features Campbelltown versus Boomerangs in Open Men’s, Enfield Rovers face Majik in Open Women’s, Dural meet Inner West in Youth Men and 14 Girls, Magic play Phoenix in 16 Girls, Mountain match-up to Mascot in 16 Boys and Warriors in 12 Girls, Inner West tackle Enfield in 14 Boys, while it’s Magic on Majik in 12 Boys. Campbelltown Quake play Boomerangs in the preliminary final at Ryde Sports & Community Centre for the right to take on Dural Warriors in next week’s grand final. It’s the last Boomerangs hooruh as the club faces a possible state league relegation and they face a red-hot Campbelltown that’s lost just one of their last 11 matches. Quake hasn’t beaten the Territorians in two seasons but it’s always been close between them, two draws (1-1 and 5-5), two 3-2 wins and a couple of two-goal victories mark their last six meetings. The stage is set as the competition’s second and third best offensive and defensive units (behind premiers Dural) look prime to put on another spectacle.
Campbelltown manager Carlos Martinez didn’t mince words about tight the game would be. “We’re confident against Boomerangs even though we’ve lost to them twice this season,” he said. “It will be a tricky one for us, but we’ve been utilising our depth well lately so hopefully we can beat a team that’s been hard for us to beat.”
