The Semi Finals of the FNSW Futsal Premier League were played last Saturday and Quake blitzed their opposition winning 5 of their 6 games and qualifying 4 teams for the Grand Finals.
The 12 Boys kicked off proceedings with a comfortable 3-1 win against Magic in the Major Semi Final (Angelo Kalamvokis 1, Matthew Khalil 1 and Adrian Neoklis 1) and the Minor Premiers progressed straight to the Grand Final to be played at Dural in 2 weeks time.
The 12 Girls gave everything they had against Warriors but, after holding Dural out for 25 minutes, they conceded 2 more late goals to go down 0-3. A disappointing result but a terrific effort.
The 16 Boys didn’t play anywhere near as well as they can and had to score 2 goals in extra time to run out 5-3 winners over a determined Majik side (Trent Sierra 2, Liam McGing 2 and Lachlan Roberts 1). The Minor Premiers are also straight into the Grand Final.
The Youth went into the Major Semi with the best defensive record in the competition and their defence was good enough to see off Minor Premiers Dural after 15 year old Anthony Haddad scored the only goal of the game. The Youth became the 3rd Quake team to qualify directly for the Grand Final.
Quake’s Women came out firing on all cylinders and took a well deserved 3-0 lead into half-time against arch rivals Rovers. Rovers changed their defensive structure at half-time but Quake continued their good play to run out comfortable 4-1 winners (Lauren Ralston 2, Laura Donnelly 1 and an OG). The Women will play their 4th Grand Final in a row and continue to build on their reputation as one of the best teams in futsal.
The Men played their 3rd sudden death semi in 3 years and their previous successes in this situation resulted in them handling the pressure well. They built a handy 3-1 half-time lead and didn’t give Magic a sniff. Goals to Bully, Shannon Fielding, Jordan Mundell and little Symo resulted in a 4-1 win and completed a clean sweep of 3 wins against Magic this year. The lads play Boomerangs in the Preliminary Final next week @ Ryde. Kick off is at 6.15 PM.
What a fantastic day for Quake! We have 4 teams already in the Grand Final and the Men have every chance of making it 5 next week.
As always……….Go Quake!
