Australian Futsal Association is proud to announce the return of national league futsal with the release of the ANFL.
2014 will see the inaugural year of the competition with leagues for both men and women.
The league will be played in two conferences , Southern and Northern, and will commence in mid May with finals late August. It will be played on a rotating circus basis , with teams coming together for a weekend and playing all other teams in that weekend, and points cumulating over the whole competition. Rounds will be played in the home city of each team.
The Northern division will see teams from Brisbane, Port Macquarie, Newcastle and two Sydney teams competing, with Cairns wishing to join the year after, but attend one of the rounds this year.
The Southern division will see Hobart, Launceston, Ballarat , Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth competing, with both groups coming together in Sydney to play one final round with all clubs present.
Although only having 5 to 6 teams in each conference for the first year, it is envisaged that other teams will be included in the future expansion.
ANFL coordinator Damian Briggs has been planning this league for some time, and is confident it will be both successful and a pinnacle for the sport.
The draw for the league will be issued shortly and the national league teams involved will be holding trials shortly for players. For details on the two Sydney teams please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (02) 9972 9173.
