FC Richmond (Futsal Club) 13-0 F.C. Carlton Heart

RICH – A.Erenli 3, E.Hulbert 3, K.White 3, A.Stefanidis, M.Aloisio, S.Fogarty

A new season beckons and to kick it all of it would be the Champions Richmond taking on newly formed FC Carlton. In what looked like a mismatch on paper Carlton defended very hard in the opening exchanges and managed to keep Richmond goal less for a long period, But it only took a 4 minute patch which saw Richmond put the game virtually beyond reach with Kariah White setting up an own goal and walking one in herself for a 2-0 lead, A quick fire double from Emily Hulbert rounded out the first half scoring and helped her side to a comfortable 4-0 lead.

As Carlton began to tire Richmond got stronger as they put in a huge 9 goal second half to blow the new comers out of the water, A second half hat trick from Azize Erenli was the cornerstone of the second half as Richmond had 3 players putting in hat trick performances to kick start their title defence in the best possible way.

Player Of The Game – Emily Hulbert (FC Richmond)

After joining the team late on last season Hulbert has slotted beautifully into the Richmond side and her hat trick tonight showed the extra touch of class she adds to the Richmond line up and she could play a pivotal role in Richmond retaining the title this season.

2013/14 PEPSI Women’s WVLP Round 1 RESULT:

Fitzroy Futsal Club 3-2 Melbourne University Futsal Club

FITZ – B.Mankir, S.Brewer, E.Gunn – Own Goal
MU – M.Edgerton-Bachman 2

Second game of the 2014 season saw Fitzory and Melbourne Uni face off once again. In a surprise first half Fitzroy took a 2-0 lead going into half time with goals from Busra Mankir and an own goal from Emma Gunn having Fitzroy in a commanding position.

The second half was a different ball game when Maya Edgerton-Bachman sprung into life and bagged 2 goals to have the game back on level terms. Fitzroy would not go away though and when Steph Brewer added a 3rd for the tigers they looked set to steal a big 3 points to open the season. Melbourne were gifted a chance to level from the penalty spot only for Edgerton-Bachman to hit the upright and it proved a costly miss in the end as Fitzroy took home a big 3 points.

Player Of The Game – Diarna Cartwright (Fitzroy FC)

Debuting for Fizroy after her move from EFA Eagles Cartwright was outstanding in goal for FItzroy making some crucial saves that helped her side to a win. She has been a big coup as one of the better keepers in the league she will play a big part in a Fitzroy season set to blossom

2013/14 PEPSI Women’s WVLP Round 1 RESULT:

Ashburton Women’s Futsal Club 2-0 Vic Vipers Futsal Club

ASH – R.Quigley, A.Gummer
VV –

The final game of the night saw ever improving Ashburton take on a new look Vic Vipers. In a tightly contested game Ashburton took a slim advantage with a goal from new inclusion Racheal Quicgley the difference between the two sides at the break.

The second half was much the same story with the Vipers dominating possession but were unable to find the back of the net. Ashburton in turn made them pay when another first gamer in Alexandra Gummer doubled the advantage to kill off the game and bring Ashburton an important 3 points to get their season off to the best possible start. As for the Vipers its back to the drawing board as they look to get up next week for 3 points.

Player Of The Game – Alexandra Gummer (Ashburton FC)

Gummer was superb tonight, In her first V-League game she hardly missed a beat linking up brilliantly with fellow first gamer Racheal Quigley and Leah Barrett should these 3 play on a regular basis Ashburton could be a force to be reckoned with this season.
