Pascoe Vale’s premiership success – the club’s record-breaking 10th title – was the hardest to date, says captain Andre Caro.
Pascoe Vale secured the 2016/17 Series Futsal Victoria crown during Round 19 on Friday when closest rivals Hume were defeated by Collingwood.
The outcome saw Pascoe Vale move nine points clear at the top of the table with two games to go.
Caro, currently the leading goal scorer in the league, says that this title was the hardest due to the player changes that his team had to overcome.
“It was definitely the hardest title to date,” Caro told SeriesFutsal.com.
“We had lots of players getting injured and lost a few players during the season. We had to rebuild the squad, and that’s not easy to do. Usually that takes time.
“We have a culture of trialing players and looking for new players and that has paid off. We found players such as Enzo and Baptiste, as well as young players like Stefan (Ristic) who really stepped up.”
Caro says that the focus is now on the Series Futsal Australia tournament where he hopes to end Cambrio Cumbre’s stranglehold on the competition.
“For us, the main priority is Series Futsal Australia,” he said.
“The Foz Cup will be a good challenge for us to see if we are ready for SFA, but really, our main priority is to have the right squad for the national crown. We have won that three times and we want to win it again.”
Pascoe Vale will take on FC Collingwood this Friday evening.
