Exciting games between Tassie and Korean representative touring teams!
Report from Vikings Tasmania on the recent Korean matchups
Recently the Korean National under 12 development side travelled to Tasmania for the second annual tour to the “Apple Isle”. Vikings Futsal Tasmania along with Sth Hobart Soccer Club played host to the Korean side and they played several games against select teams in both Futsal and outdoor Football.
There is the hope that Vikings Futsal will send teams away on tours to Korea in the future and we hope to hold a mini tournament in Tasmania in the future including the Korean teams in the U/12 age group.
The Futsal Tournament was dominated by the Tasmanian U/14 sides from both the South and the North West with South Tasmania taking out the trophy for the 2nd year running. It was great to see the North West side travel to Hobart and experience the culture and excitement of Korean Futsal.
Futsal Tasmania then put two All Star Futsal sides against the Korean kids in their preferred game outdoors. Tasmania was successful in both games with Lucas Targett hitting the winner for the U/12’s with a 20 yard free kick. The U/12 Tasmanian side had notable contributions all round with standouts being Sam Caswell, Xavier Castaneda and David Warren throughout.
In the second game Tasmania came from behind 3 times to win a marvellous game 4-3 with Harrison Thomas scoring 2, Ben Robinson and Luke Cooper scoring. The standout player in this game was Yosef Kolele.
Korea were fantastic opponents and we look forward to seeing them again in 2011 and beyond.
Korea vs Vikings Tasmania 2010
Tri-series between the U/13 Korean side and two tasmania sides to take place on August 17th and 18th
For the 2nd year in a row Vikings Futsal Tasmania will play a series against the visiting Korean International U/13 Football sides in the next week.
The Korean visit will see a tri-series between the U/13 Korean side, Australian National Champions Tasmania South and National School semi finalist North West Tasmania
Also while on tour the Koreans will play outdoor games against the Vikings Futsal All Stars U/12 side and a local under 14 club academy in Hobart
Vikings Futsal as usual are leading the way in terms of touring teams and this is a great opportunity on offer for Tasmania kids.
This is one of many opportunities that Tasmanian Futsal continues to offer and we hope for a successful trip which will see the Korean team send sides again next season.

FSET All Stars outclassed in their opening fixture (TAS)
New Vikings club FSET experience their first intra-club match
Saturday Night saw the first intra-club match for the FSET All Stars who were selected to represent Vikings newest club at Dodges Ferry in what was set to be a milestone occasion in the region.
The FSET club which is based in Dodges Ferry and will incorporate surrounding areas such as Sorell, Primrose Sands, Dunalley and Port Arthur is starting to gather momentum with its social winter competition which has expanded very quickly.
Co-Ordinator Matthew Vaughan-Williams is hoping that the club will grow and go from strength to strength under the guidance of the experienced Vikings team and this could create a great regional rivalry in the future for the South of the State.
The long term goal is to create a competition in which the best can get together and take on the might and power of the Hobart Suburbs which in its short existance has gone on to win National crowns and all sorts of national accolades.
FSET is already fortunate to have several state players in its ranks plying their trade in the youth girls competition including Jayd Lockley, Phoebe Vaughan-Williams, Milly Russell and Mali Walton.
On saturday a select side from the FSET social roster played an exhibition game against State Super League semi finalist Zebras FC in what was always going to be a one sided affair.
The idea of the event was to show FSET members the level that they will need to make in the future and expose the region to top quality Futsal players in their purest form. The Zebras side sure lived up to this by combining several highly skilled moves throughout the match.
The match ended 26-7 in Zebras favour, this scoreline is an indication of how open the game was and how one sided tthe game was with Zebras taking on a Harlem Globetrotters style approach throughout.
As many are aware though this is the very first match of its kind in the region and many thanks to Zebras FC for the work they have done in helping to promote the game in the area.
A highlight for FSET was the emergance of 14 year old whiz kid Jakob Scott (pictured above) who could be a player for the future.
