Vic girls create history
Quick writeup on the Vic U12 Girls at the FFA Nationals
Victoria’s Under 12 girls’ team had a fantastic run during the recent Australian National Futsal Championships in Canberra, reaching the grand final where it fell 4-0 to an accomplished NSW team.
It was the first time in the 31-year history of the tournament that a Victorian U12 team reached the final.
The Vics defeated the ACT Cobras in the semi-final. The final was played in the AIS’s main arena.
Madeline Stockdale of the Brighton Thunderbirds was the Vics leading goal scorer, kicking five of the team’s 14 goals during its seven games.
Lucy Kennedy of the Sandringham Soccer Club was also on the side along with Gabriella Fox (Keilor), Sarina Vallese (Green Gully), Danniella Galluccio (Box Hill), Zoe Stamatopolous (Epping), Rosemaree Scarpino (Brunswick Zebras), Alicia Vakalopoulos (Richmond), Chloe Cini (Sydenham) and goalkeeper Emma Heckenberg (Monash Soccer Club).
The team was coached by South Melbourne’s Sam Mlynarz. Derek Smith, of Keilor and the Australian Futsal Group, served as team manager
Heckenberg played a vital role in goal and also kicked several goals herself during the series. Defenders Vallese, Fox and the cool, calm and experienced Kennedy stopped many opposition attacks on goal
Midfielders Stamatopolous, Gallucio and Vakalopoulos set up many opportunities up front with direct and accurate passing.
Strikers Stockdale, Cini and Scarpino all scored amazing goals under pressure.
Victorian Futbol and Futsal Academies (Vikings)
News on the long running Academies for 2010
IN 2010 THE VICTORIAN FUTBOL & FUTSAL ACADEMIES WILL CONTINUE TO BOOM!
Already operating for over eight years and initially based exclusively out of Oakleigh Recreation Centre, the academies concept for our sport seems to gain greater numbers and results with every year. More than ever witnessed before, many players are gaining genuine acknowledgement for their commitment and efforts by being identified to represent their respective ages at state level both at Futsal and Football. Aside from these obvious results, all novice and intermediate academy reps have developed at astounding rates, in regards to personal goals and targets that they set out to achieve!
Boasting the best coaches in the state and now expanding into the domain of Football due to the newly established partnership with the education arm of the official Brasilian Football fraternity (CBF) and professional club Atletico Mineiro, the opportunities that the academies sought after curriculum and delivery of quality instruction provide, have firmly established themselves, as not only the longest lasting provider of their kind but more importantly the most credentialed.
The Academy now operates out of the following locations:
Ashburton – Ballarat – Brunswick – Dandenong – Doncaster – Hawthorn – Oakleigh & Rowville
In turn it serves to provide the following programs/ courses:
Futsal Specific – Football – Female Specific – Sub Junior Development – Striker School & Goalkeeping academy
Mission statement: The Aim of each of our Programs:
The provision of an optimal sporting preparatory program and realisation of high performance opportunities in Futsal and Football at an elite level, through the development of skills, attitudes and knowledge in players, that will enable them to compete successfully at the highest levels on a regular basis.

Bayside Pirates News (VIC)
Social Comp News and a new players call for the Pirates Academy
Calcio 90 on top!
Bad Beats and newcomers, Calcio 90, got off to winning ways last night in the Mens Social competition. There were some very rusty and tired looking players on the court….most were still recovering from their Christmas dinners and holidays, by the looks of their waist lines! However,no doubt with a few more games the sharpness will reappear in the players! Bad Beats pipped Salsa in a re match of last season’s final 5-2. Calcio 90 came from behind to beat a tired Red Devils outfit 7-5. CFC had the bye this week. There will be some double headers coming up, when all of the players are more fit!
MFL KICKS OFF SOON!
The Pirates Academy is in full swing, with the Academy’s MFL teams getting ready for the conclusion of the 2009 season and then the new 2010 season! New players are always welcome. Just contact Mark.

Jonathon Barrientos and Fernando De Moraes in the 18 player training squad for the Futsalroos.
Victorian’s Jonathon Barrientos and Fernando De Moraes have been selected in a squad of 18 players by Qantas Futsalroos Head Coach Steven Knight, for a training camp to be held in Sydney between 24- 26 January 2010.
Knight will use the camp to help select a final squad of 14 players that will then head to Indonesia for the AFC Futsal Championship ASEAN Zone qualifiers in February.
Knight is excited by the prospect and confident that the group of players that he has selected will be able to do the job.
“The group that we have selected are the in-form players from the last few months and recent FFA National Futsal Championships,” Knight said.
“There are also a number of talented young players in the group who will benefit from the experience of being involved in the training and may even push for selection.”
The AFC Futsal Championship ASEAN Zone qualifiers will take place from 20-25 February in Jakarta with the top three teams qualifying for the AFC Futsal Championships which will be played in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from 23-30 May.
The Qantas Futsalroos have been drawn in Group A along with Indonesia and Myanmar, while Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Philippines make up Group B.

Local girls represent VIC at the FFA National Futsal Championships
Keely Lockhart and Cassandra Dimovski featured for VIC at the FFA Nationals
Local girls Keely Lockhart from Eltham North and Cassandra Dimovski from Lower Plenty, both from Eltham Redbacks FC (previously Eltham North Soccer Club), represented Victoria this week at the FFA National Futsal Championships in Canberra.
Lockhart competed for the U11 girls team who were very competitive with a highlight 8-1 win over Canberra in Round 10 but unfortunately missed out on making the final.
Dimovski competed for the U16 girls who did particularly well and made the final but lost 2-0 to a very strong team, NSW Thunder. Victoria’s highest score in their league was a 9-1 win over Northern NSW Hawks in Round 4.
The Rebacks have historically had very strong girls and womens membership highlighted by the Women’s Premier League team which was very successful in past years under coach Bob McGuinness before disbanding in 2009 due to lack of facilities.
Players such as Enza Barilla, Nicole Paul and Deanna Niceski have all played for the Redbacks and have gone on to play for the Victory W-League team.
The Redbacks, complete with a brand new state-of-the art FIFA 1-star artificial surface, are open for registration for the 2010 season.
